The research object is the current situation of Teaching Chinese language at Confucius Institute of University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka. The author has obtained the first-hand information of the current situation of Teaching Chinese language at Confucius Institute of University of Kelaniya by questionnaires, individual interviews, data analysis and other methods. The study discovered the existing problems of Chinese Teaching at Confucius Institute of University of Kelaniya, at the same time make suitable suggestions,and completed the investigation about the current situation of Teaching Chinese Language at the Confucius Institute of University of Kelaniya.Firstly, there is an introduction to explain the purpose and significance of the topic,and the related research work, including the content of the survey and the ideas and methods of the investigation. Then through the interviews and practical experience,introduces the teaching situation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya,including setting of curriculum, Confucius school textbooks, teachers, and classroom teaching in five aspects. Questionnaire survey and analyzed the situation, needs and expectations of the Confucius School of learning, including the basic situation, learning motivation, to China cultural points of interest and expectations of teachers, also the difficulty of cognition and Chinese plan to study in the China etc. This paper points out the problems existing in the four aspects of the curriculum, teaching materials, teachers and learners in Confucius college. And some suggestions are put forward from the four aspects of the Chinese teaching of Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya.This paper fills in the gaps in the research of Confucius Institute in Sri Lanka. I hope this paper will provide suggestions for Chinese teachers in Sri Lanka, and provide references for the future study of Chinese teaching in Sri Lanka.
