A Report On The Translation Practice Of The Korean Short Story "The Hunter Of Minotaur"

This article is on the translation of Minotaur hunter,a short story written by a Korean author named Gueon-Haeng-baek.The author is good at storytelling and character depicting with the aid of delicate descriptive techniques.Through the vivid expression,readers are able to understand the profound meaning between the lines.Among all the Korean novels,the writing style of this novel is unique and worth learning from.The novel is selected from the "2016 New Year Art Collection of Novels".Contributed to its high literary value and profound meaning,this novel becomes one of the masterpieces of Korean contemporary novels.It mainly tells a gratuitous "livestock slaughter" ignited by the foot-and-mouth disease.By comparing the animal-slaughtering military to Minotaur---a monster in Greek mythology,the author insinuates the indifference and cruelty of humanity.Through this article,the translator intends to explore the Korean-Chinese translation methods and techniques in the field of literature as well as introduce more excellent Korean literary works to Chinese readers.This article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter includes an overview of the translated work,the introduction of the author and his works,the purpose of translation and pre-translation preparation.The second chapter is on the translation theory.This chapter explains the theoretical knowledge guiding this translation,covering the translation skills in the full translation strategy and the domestication and foreignization translation strategies.In the third chapter,some typical sentences are comprehensively analyzed according to the translation theory,under the guidance of different translation methods.As a summary,the fourth chapter concludes the difficulties,problems and the intuitive feelings of the translator in the course of translation.
