The improvement of English reading ability is not only the key part of improving students' English ability,but also one of the important ways to cultivate students' cross-cultural ability.Therefore,English cross-cultural reading is an important way for students to understand the culture of English-speaking countries and cultivate cross-cultural ability.Through the analysis of the relevant curriculum teaching plan,curriculum outline,school-based teaching materials and other elements,this study found that the existing primary school English reading school-based curriculum elements have shortcomings in cross-cultural aspects.For example,there are few curriculum goals designed for cross-culture in the curriculum objectives.The content of the course focuses on the foundation,and lacks the cross-cultural reading content and so on.The problem to be solved in this study is to improve and optimize the existing cross-cultural deficiencies in the school-based curriculum of English reading in primary schools,and to optimize the design of the elements of the school-based curriculum of English reading in primary schools from the cross-cultural point of view.Make the cross-cultural embodiment more distinct.In this study,cross-culture refers to two different cultural backgrounds between China and the United States.Students experience different cultural attributes and differences in the reading texts presented.That is,the collision between the Chinese cultural background of the students themselves and the culture of the British and American countries in the reading text,and the understanding of the cultural differences arising from the students' own Chinese cultural background and the reading text.Therefore,this paper adopts the methods of literature,questionnaire and interview,based on the cross-cultural theory and the related theories of reading,and takes the cross-cultural thought as the design concept.This paper first makes a theoretical analysis of the English school-based curriculum design from the cross-cultural perspective,then analyzes the present situation of the primary school-based English school-based curriculum from the cross-cultural perspective,and then probes into the optimization of the primary school English school-based curriculum design from the cross-cultural perspective.The questionnaire survey method is used to understand the level of cross-cultural knowledge and the actual needs of students,and the interview method is used to analyze and summarize theexpectations of parents,so as to provide the basis for the choice of curriculum content.On the basis of the existing ones,the cross-cultural design of the curriculum objectives,curriculum content,learning style,learning evaluation and other elements of the school-based English reading curriculum in primary schools is optimized and improved.This study starts with the design and optimization of curriculum elements,and holds that the goal of cross-cultural content learning and the establishment of cultural literacy and consciousness should be increased in the curriculum objectives,and attention should be paid to the role of cross-culture.In terms of cross-cultural reading content,according to the needs of students and the expectations of parents,English reading materials with cultural content in English-speaking countries are compiled,and a series of reading texts are organized in the form of topics.In the way of learning,according to the characteristics of cross-cultural content,increase the corresponding cross-cultural reading activities;The existing formative evaluation and final evaluation are adjusted appropriately,and the evaluation contents and standards,as well as the evaluation methods of cross-cultural reading,are adjusted to focus on cross-cultural aspects.This study is innovative in the perspective of research and optimization measures,and analyzes and clarifies the elements that should be available and considered in the school-based curriculum of English reading in primary schools from the cross-cultural perspective,as well as the influencing factors of school-based curriculum design.From the cross-cultural point of view,the school-based curriculum of English reading in primary schools is designed and optimized to meet the students' needs for British and American culture,and to help students improve their understanding of the background knowledge of British and American culture.Let them learn more about English culture in the school-based curriculum of primary school English reading from the cross-cultural perspective,and reduce the barriers to English cultural understanding.
