Mu Xin is both a poet and a painter. His poetry and Chinese paintings are inextricably linked.Exploring Mu Xin’s poetry and Chinese paintings from the perspective of the relationship between poetry and painting can provide a new research perspective for the interpretation of poetry and painting.Throughout the creation of poetry and Chinese paintings of Mu Xin,it can be seen that his works have commonalities in terms of theme, technique and style,on which the thesis studied Mu Xin’s creation. The main body of the thesis consists of three chapters, and in all five parts with the introduction and conclusion. The introduction part is an introduction to Mu Xin,reviewing the life experience of Mu Xin,sorting out the publication of Mu Xin’s works, and briefly reviewing the current research results on Mu Xin.The first chapter studies the commonalities of Mu Xin’s poetry and painting from the aspect of creative subject.Mu Xin’s poetry and painting works show two characteristics of the creative subject, namely the love for the hometown and the way of thinking of children. In his poems,Mu Xin recalls the past eating, childhood sounds, and previous lifestyles. In his paintings,he displays the mountains and rivers of his hometown, and expresses his thoughts for his hometown through the moon, which is with unique cultural connotations in Chinese culture. In poetry, the childishness of Mu Xin is mainly reflected in the similarity of children’s spiritual temperament. In the painting, the childishness is more manifested as child-like fraternity and full of imagination. This is not because he can’t come out from child’s innocence, instead,it is an active return to childhood mentality after seeing the cruelty of the world. The second chapter studies the commonalities of Mu Xin’s poetry and painting from the aspect of creative process. The two common characteristics of Mu Xin’s poetry and painting are the recreation from an old one to a new one and the constantly thinking in the creating process.Mu Xin creates Frottage on the ink stains of the glass plates, and creates new literary works on the basis of the predecessors’ poems. These are the recreations of the existing materials.Mu Xin’s work is the result of “constantly thinking”.His constantly thinking management is reflected in the literary revision of the work.It is reflected in the painting in the repeated thinking of the layout structure of the work, and the presentation of the failure is the best proof of the “constantly thinking” of Mu Xin.The third chapter studies the commonalities of Mu Xin’s poetry and painting from the perspective of creative aesthetics.Mu Xin’s poetry and paintings all reflect the world-class aesthetic characteristics and intellectual art style.Mu Xin combines Eastern and Western elements in his poems, expressing his concern for the Eastern and Western cultures and his exploration of human beings. In his paintings,he absorbs the nutrition of outstanding artists from different eras and different societies, reflecting the worldclass aesthetic style. The painting of Mu Xin attaches importance to intelligence, restrains emotions in poetry, advocating philosophical speculation, and restrains space in painting, mix together figurative and abstract, and shows the pursuit of intellectual art.The conclusion part is a summary of the full text, which explains the commonalities of Mu Xin’s poetry and painting in a concise and succinct way from the creative subject, the creative process and the aesthetics of creation.
