| Johannes Brahms(7 May 1833 – 3 April 1897)was a German composer and pianist who was born in Hamburg.Symphony No.1 in C Minor,Op.68 was composed from 1855 to 1876,taking the composer 21 years to complete.The main research content of this thesis is the third movement of Brahms’ Symphony No.1.Analysis of the score.Video screenshots of three conductors,Herbert von Karajan,Leonard Bernstein,and Simon Rattle.Compare the three conductors as models,and discuss the three conducting characteristics from the aspects of music processing and conducting techniques.The thesis is divided into three chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the life of Brahms and the background of the Symphony No.1,and analyzes the third movement of Symphony No.1.The second chapter introduces the three conductors,mainly compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between Karajan,Bernstein and Rattle in the same passage of the third movement of Symphony No.1 from the perspective of conducting,and concludes the summary and explores the origin of the difference.The third chapter mainly explains the enlightenment obtained from the analysis of the conducting techniques of Karajan,Bernstein and Rattle.The full text is based on the live video of Brahms’ Symphony No.1,combined with the score,using software to portrait the music,comparing it from various aspects,analyzing the similarities and differences between the three masters in the conducting action and music interpretation.I hope to take this opportunity to explore a better orchestral conducting learning style,to understand how to direct the third movement of Brahms’ Symphony No.1,and to apply the conducting principles to the reality in light of the situation of self-learning. |
