Based on 3 million C-E Parallel Corpus and the interlanguage corpus of HSK dynamic Composition Corpus, this paper makes a study on the acquisition of "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" by foreign students with English background through comparative analysis and quantitative analysis.Fristly,we investigated the arrangement and explanation of "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" in Chinese and English reference books, general outlines and textbooks. On the basis of the investigation,we made a comparative study of "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" in Chinese and foreign languages. We mainly studied "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai",as well as their English equivalents with different time words, adverbs and predicates. We found that this group of words usually corresponds to the continuous tense in English when used with active verbs, partial terminal verbs and partial instantaneous verbs. When used in conjunction with adjectives and stative verbs, this group of words often corresponds to the present tense and the past tense, and it’s not common to correspond with other forms. Then,we found that "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" coexist with different time words and different adverbs, generally appearing behind this group of words, but in the corresponding English sentences, these time words and adverbs appear relatively freely, which can appear at the beginning of the sentence,in the middle of sentence, and the end of the sentence.Additionally, when "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" matches with the verb-object phrase, this sentence often corresponds to the structure SVO;When it matches with verb-adverbial phrase,predicate-complement phrase and serial verb phrase, this sentence often corresponds to the structure of SVA;When it matches with the coordinate phrases, this sentence often corresponds to the coordinate structure leading by "and";When it matches with the concurrent phrase, the sentence is often correspondence with the structure of SVOC.Based on the above research,we predicted the difficulty of acquiring this phrase and its related structures by English background students.Secondly,we analyzed the acquisition of "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" by foreign students with English background, finding that the correct rate of using this group of words can be sorted as follows:"Zhengzai>Zheng>Zai" and the output of them by Chinese native speakers and the international students can be ordered as:"Zai>Zheng>Zhengzai”(here ">," means higher than),but the former output of this group of words is significantly larger than the latter. Then we analyzed the correct cases and found that there are fewer examples of international students using "Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai" with adjectives and single verbs, and often use them with verb-object and verb-adverbial phrases. In addition,we analyzed the wrong cases and found that the phenomenon of substitution error each other and other words often occurs when they use"Zheng/Zai/Zhengzai";When students use this group of words and related structures, there are often problems of component redundancy, omission, and mismatching;Besides, when they use this group of words to match the verb-object structure, they often have mismatched problems. Then we analyzed the causes of the errors and proposed some textbook writing suggestions and teaching suggestions based on the previous research, aiming to help students acquire this group of words better.
