Study On Chu Yu's Poems And Proses

During the reign of emperor Hongzhi and Zhengde,Chu Quan worshipped Li Dongyang as a teacher and made friend with Li Mengyang as an active person in the political and literary world.Chu Quan had played a vital role in Literary Archaist Movement by which Cha Ling School and the Former Seven Scholars drove.His character is upright and modest.And He had a very broad area for making friends and travelling at that time.Even some people who was quilt famous had a close relationship with him,such as Li Dongyang,Li Mengyang and Wang Shouren.Not only did he enjoyed great popularity among the people politically,but also he wrote poem and prose that went down to posterity.This thesis will consist of five chapters,but in terms of specific contents,they are listed as follows:The first chapter discusses some basic facts such as Chu Quan’s family history and custom,his experience of life and achievements in official career,his making friends and traveling activities.Chu Quan was born in Taizhou within the region of Wu,and that his family removed here from Qufu in Shandong.Therefore,it was unquestionable that his achievements in official had been the star performer and he was highly respected by everyone for his probity because of Confucian and Wuzhong cultures.In addition besides,it was usually that Chu Quan traveled and traipsed between Beijing and Nanjing,and he preferred to learn from moral elders,colleagues of equal years,excellent inferiors,but there was no lack of people who might have scaled the height of literary of fame.The second chapter discusses Chu Quan’s works contained poetry and prose.Some catalogue books give a record about Chu Quan’s works,for instance,Qianqingtang Bibliography and Chuanshilou Bibliography.Chu Quan had written a work that was called the Collection of Chai Xu,and this work is still surviving now.The chapter attempts to check the ancient books and some electronic databases for reference.These ancient booksmainly include anthologies,series of books,local chronicles and so on.After that,it is chiefly in the process of sorting out his works about version and collections in library,and a brief explanation about scattered works.The third chapter studies Chu Quan’s poetry in terms of subject matter and artistic characteristics.Specifically,the main contents of Chu Quan’s poems contained banqueting with friends,farewell parties,traveling leisurely,missing on the road,congratulating,yearning and grieve over others,painting the beautiful scenes,etc.Chu Quan’s poems are elegant but no lack of idyllic flavour,they are clear and leisure but no lack of magnanimous meaning,they are also depressed but no lack of keynote of returning to the ancients.And that,from his poems,we can still feel the relique of the Wei,Jin,Tang Song and Yuan dynasties.The fourth chapter studies Chu Quan’s prose which includes prefaces and postscripts,sacrifices and epitaphs,written messages.The purpose of this chapter is to feel the pure friendship between him and his friends or relatives,experience true understanding of life,deeply excavate the ideological connotation of literary creation and literature collation.Finally,the conclusion comprehensively evaluates the position and influence of Chu Quan in the history of literature.
