The late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China are an important stage in the transition of quantifiers from modern Chinese to modern Chinese, and also an important link in the development history of Chinese quantifiers.Quantifiers at the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of Republic of China not only have the historical accumulation of ancient Chinese, but also have the germination of modern Chinese quantifiers, which play a connecting role between the preceding and the following. However, judging from the research situation of quantifiers, the academic circles paid little attention to quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, which was a weak link in the research of quantifiers. The vernacular newspapers and periodicals in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China lack much attention to the corpus. The vernacular newspapers and periodicals contain a wide range of contents, which are precious corpus for the study of Chinese in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China in terms of quantity and content. This paper chooses ten kinds of vernacular newspapers and magazines in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China as the research object, describes and analyses 355 quantifiers, and compares them with the usage of the former generation and modern quantifiers in order to reveal the development and characteristics of Quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. This article is divided into eight chapters, about 150,000 words.Chapter ?"Introduction".which includes the significance of the topic, the current research situation, the research trend, the research methods and the introduction of the corpus.Firstly, this paper describes the significance of the topic and the research status of quantifiers at home and abroad.Secondly,it explains the research trends and methods of quantifiers. Finally,it introduces the corpus of this paper.Chapter ? "An Overview of Vernacular Quantifiers in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China".It explains the definition and classification of vernacular classifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Referring to the previous research results, the vernacular classifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China are divided into Noun Classifiers and verb classifiers.Noun quantifiers include individual quantifiers, collective quantifiers, borrowed quantifiers and institutional unit quantifiers;and momentum quantifiers include special momentum quantifiers and borrowed momentum quantifiers. Finally,it describes the general situation of vernacular classifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Chapter ? to Chapter VII describes and analyses quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. This paper studies quantifiers from the aspects of grammatical features and the diachronic evolution of quantifier cases.Referring to the quantifiers in the dictionary of the usage of modern Chinese quantifiers and the previous research results, this paper makes a diachronic comparison of the semantic and grammatical characteristics of Quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and describes the inheritance and development of Quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,in order to show the development and characteristics of Quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Chapter ?"Conclusion".which summarizes the content of the full text.Through the analysis of the semantic change and individual replacement in the diachronic development of Quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,it summarizes the development status and characteristics of Quantifiers in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. From the Ming Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the semantic changes and individual changes of quantifiers are relatively stable;from the end of Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the Republic of China to the modern times, the semantic changes and individual changes of quantifiers are more obvious. Finally,it summarizes the changes of the quantifier system from the previous dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of Republic of China, and the position of the quantifier system in the history of Chinese development in the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of Republic of China.
