The issue of literary classics has always been a hot topic in academic circles.Harold Bloom the professor of Yale University put forward his canonical theory in The Western Canon.Bloom believes that today’s traditional literature faces the crisis of being replaced by audio-visual products. He insists on the literary elite position and calls for the return of the traditional canon. From the perspective of literary ecology, the canon as a typical example of literature, the direction of literary creation is an important factor affecting the development of literary ecology. The canon itself also has the characteristics of literary ecology. Therefore, the canon is not a static concept. Its creation and selection are also dominated by the outside world and the literature itself. This paper combines literary ecology with Bloom’s canonical theory and explores the role of the canon in literary ecology from a developmental perspective. The beginning of this article begins with the concept and studies the concept of canon in literary ecology. The first chapter compares the traditional canon concept,Bloom’s division of the canon and the canonical concept of literary ecology, thus clarifying the role and status of the canon in literary ecology. After the concept is clear, the first chapter continues to divide the literary ecology into two parts: internal and external.Combining the concepts of “impact theory” and “literature era division” in Bloom’s canonical theory,it analyzes the influence of different ecological factors on the development and establishment of canon.Based on the first chapter, the second chapter of this paper mainly studies the literary ecological characteristics of the canon itself. The second chapter begins with Bloom’s definition of canon as the theoretical basis.Under the influence of various factors,it is discussed that under the influence of various factors, the original canon loses its original canonization into a non-canonical,quasi-canonized canon under certain conditions, and does not conform to the definition. The canon can’t have three problems of canonicality. Then,it continues to analyze the impact of the natural environment and the human environment on the creation of canon.Driven by various factors, the canon has become a concept with the characteristics of the times. Therefore, the third chapter of this thesis mainly studies the deconstruction of the concept of canon in the current literary ecology and the resulting literary ecological crisis. The third chapter first discusses that in the highly developed technology and media, the elite status of the traditional canon has long been lost, and Bloom predicts that a new era of literature full of sound image will come. The third chapter analyzes the literary ecological crisis brought by the canon as an important component of literary ecology when its concept is deconstructed. At the end of the chapter, this paper analyzes the practical significance and limitations of Bloom’s canon theory to the rescue of the literary ecology crisis. |
