Harold Bloom, the 20th century American renowned literature critic, one of the main representatives of the Yale School, is also a prolific literature critic. Although he is not a specialized student of the literary history, but his poetic theory has reflected his views on literary history. In the process of the occurrence and development of the literature, Bloom holds that the literature occurred in the catastrophe of people's hearts, and the ultimate power of the literary development comes from the mind of anxiety and strong desire to be living and revision. On the respect of the narrative perspective about literary historiography, or on the view of the Surveyed object of literary history and the selection principle of history, Bloom keeps up a viewpoint that the literary history is a classic history of literature, aesthetic and originality which is also a threshold that is stetted up for literature which intent to joining in the literary history.Bloom has also demonstrated the complex relationships in literary history—restricted intertextual relationship, that Inter-textuality caused by inter-subjectivity. He suggests that the literary history is literary tradition, which is full of heritage and betrayal. And then from the micro-view of Creative Writing and Reading to macro the whole literary history, Bloom favors that Reading that is Misprision, Misprision that is Criticism, Writing that is Misprision, thus literary criticism and literary Writing achieve convergence in the literary history. He built a picture of literary history, which is full of heritage and betrayal, and let misreading, criticism and writing mix together. Bloom's view on literary history bases on individual practice of literature, andIn regard to the external social and historical influence to the occurrence and development of the literature, he basically kept up blindness. And the development of literary history is also attributed to the catastrophe of people's hearts and the Anxiety of Influence. He employs misreading to explain the whole literary process of production and dissemination, and makes the aesthetic and originality as the selection of the standard of literary classics. Bloom's view on literary history always runs through his literary elite ideology, and it is also self-discipline of literary history. |
