| Xiaokai is one of the ancient ways of calligraphy. To some extent, xiaokai shows the calligraphers’ ability, which can not hide its disadvantages,so the Qing dynasty person Qianyong said: "the man who is not good at xiaokai, can not be called the calligrapher." The Wei kingdom Zhongyao, his xiaokai retained Han dynasty’s eight regulations and the technique of silkworm tail of lishu with long cross drawing and short shaft drawing.Though his calligraphy still has retained the legacy of lishu significance, the regular script xiaokai style has been born.During the eastern Jin dynasty,to the basis of Zhongyao’s,Wangxizhi developed the regular script to the perfect stage of xiaokai.Since then, all the calligraphers learned from Zhong and Wang.Nowadays,Wei and Jin dynasty are still the classical example of the calligraphers’ practice. We learn the strokes, the combinations, the rules and the rhymes,so that we will be closer to Zhong and Wang. |
