Feng Menglong has edited and published five books about novels:"Tai Ping GuangJi Chao","Qingshi","Gu Jin Tan Gai","Zhi Nang" and "Xiao Fu".At the same time,he also left a lot of commentary text in these five books. With regard to the compile stylistic rules, the books have a preface in the beginning. The contents of the books are classified according to the categories. Each category is usually preceded by a brief preface. There are many comments beside the text. There are also author's comments at the end of the text. The form and content of the commentary are both very abundant, which has great significance and value for us to understand Feng Menglong's literary thoughts and novels in the Ming Dynasty. This essay is divided into four chapters for discussion. The first chapter mainly analyzes the political, economic and cultural background of Feng Menglong's commentary on classical novels, and at the same time examines his personal experience. The Ming dynasty was an era when literary and artistic thoughts flourished. In particular, the review of novels has completely entered a new period. It is necessary to examine Feng Menglong's classical novel commentary from a large cultural context. The second chapter is about the version, content and commentary of the five classical Chinese novels compiled by Feng Menglong.I must do a systematic research, sorting and introduction, especially for the identity of critics.Because these books are not serious academic works, the signature is very complicated. In addition, for many reasons of history,Feng Menglong's works have been banned and destroyed during the process of circulation, and they need historical restoration work. The third chapter mainly analyzes the ideological content of Feng Menglong's commentary on classical novels.Feng Menglong expressed his views on current politics, history and many social phenomena in many review texts. At the same time,he also put forward a sentiment-based education in his comments. The fourth chapter mainly focuses on the literary theory of Feng Menglong's commentary.Although in many aspects,Chinese commentary are not systematic,we can still see the commentator's understanding of literature, especially the theory about novels, trying to make Feng Menglong's literary thoughts more clear. At last,I intend to make a summary about his comments and the impact on the history of Chinese literary criticism.
