Feng Menglong’s Literary Thoughts And "San Yan"

Feng Menglong expresses his literary thoughts from many perspectives in “San Yan”.Although not all the chapters of this book are original, the forewords and soliloquy poemsinvolves Feng’s personal feelings of the indifferent society. Feng’s choice among differentstories and materials declare his moral standards and his aesthetical orientation. We considerthe Feng Menglong literary thoughts are presented from three aspects, emotion education,vulgarity education and compilation education. The literary thoughts of Feng Menglonggreatly influences “San Yan”, Such thoughts not only formally influence the forewords,subjects and plots of the book, but also influence its theme. However, the formation of FengMenglong literary thoughts could ascribe to many reasons. We can assume that complicatedsocial environment and personal experience works together to construct the literary thoughtsof Feng Menglong. The study of this thesis will combine Feng Menglong literary thoughts to“San Yan”, starts from the various representations of Feng Menglong literary thoughts in hisworks in general, and then analyze in detail the representations of the literary thoughts in“San Yan”.
