| This research studied the identifiable victim effect of donation(study 1),and the intention of donation from the perspective of the interaction between individual and situational factors, deeply and comprehensively, under the background of Chinese collectivism culture. Results of the studies,in which dispositional attachment styles were measured(study 2a)and activated in a between-subjects priming manipulation(studies 2b),suggest that the intensity of this phenomenon is related to the potential helper’s adult attachment style.Results:(1)Main effect of the identification of victim was significant, individuals showed more donations intentions to the identified victim than unidentified ones.(2)In dispositional attachment styles,anxious-attachment persons and the identification of victim interacted with each other in intention of donation.Individuals with high anxious-attachment persons showed more donations willingness to the identified victim than unidentified ones. But individuals with low anxious-attachment persons didn’t show any difference;Low avoident-attachment persons showed less donation willingness than high avoident-attachment ones. The interaction effect among avoident-attachment persons and the identified victim effect was not significant.(3)The main effect of priming manipulation of adult-attachment styles was significant.Attachment security priming showed more donation willlingness than the anxious-attachment priming and the avoident-attachment priming. The donation willingness of anxious-attachment priming and avoident-attachment priming showed no differences; The interaction effect among priming manipulation of adult-attachment styles and the identification of victim was significant.Anxious-attachment priming showed more donations intentions to the identified victim than unidentified ones.avoident-attachment priming didn’t show any difference.Conclusions:(1)Individuals showed more donations intentions to the identified victim than unidentified ones.(2)Individuals with anxious-attachment persons showed more donations willingness to the identified victim than unidentified ones.(3)Individuals with avoident-attachment persons showed lower donations willingness to both types of victims.(4)Secure people provide similar levels of donation willingness to the identified victim than unidentified ones. |
