At the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of Yuan Dynasty,great changes took place in the history of Chinese painting.The style of court painting gradually relegated to the secondary position in yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,and the painting of literati was greatly developed.In addition,the theory of "literati painting" constructed by the two song scholar bureaucrats has been fully propagate,especially the great admiration and practice of Zhao Mengtiao,which influenced many painters of the Yuan Dynasty.Through Qianxuan's living condition,friendships,and the analyses of his artworks Qiuguatu(painting of melon in autumn),Fuyushanjutu(painting of living in Fuyu mountains)and Bahuatu(painting of 8 flowers),this article discovered that Qianxuan found a new way of archaism by combining his inherent technique of Song Dynasty art with the old archaism ideas and the spirit of seclusion.And this idea of seclusion influenced literati paintings in Ming and Qing Dynasty. |
