Due to special historical reasons, the Taiwan region of China began to integrate and exchange foreign culture very early.Compared to the mainland, the seeds of western music germinated and spread earlier in the Taiwan region. The author explores the development of Taiwan's “new music” and “modern music”through the macro perspective of the view of music history and the social activities of relevant representative composers, thus summing up the “new music” and “modern music”in Taiwan as a combination of western music. The product of traditional Chinese folk music. It can also be seen that the development of "new music" and "modern music" in the Taiwan region is another branch of Western music under the spread of global development. The full text is divided into three chapters to clarify the development of Western music in Taiwan since the liberation of Taiwan. The first chapter is to explore the early dissemination of Western music in Taiwan and the music of the late Japanese colonial period. The second chapter focuses on the three important periods of the development of“new music” and “modern music” from 1945 to 2000 in Taiwan, and concludes the social music activities and related music creations initiated by the collaborators. The development of modern mainstream music is from the dissemination of Western music to the creation of a "national complex" music work. The third chapter is to reflect on the development of "modern music" style in Taiwan after the 1960 s,and to reflect on the promotion and influence of "national elements" on Taiwanese music.
