Research On The Conceptual Dimensions Of Homesickness Of College Students

The continuous renewal and development of science and technology affect many aspects of modern life,especially the current traffic conditions and various means of communication,people can reach their destination quickly and conveniently,and also get in touch with others in spite of distance.At the same time,the development and progress in the field of economy and education also make the employment opportunities and educational resources present an unprecedented high level of quality and quantity.This also provides the driving force for people to leave home and change the place of residence:more and more people are looking for better work and higher education,leaving their hometown and focusing on the distant places.However,in the city of reinforced concrete,in the busy city life,whether these people in other cities will miss home in some time causing the time and space barrier?What kind of content to miss,and what kind of connection between these content?Whether everyone's homesickness is the same?In modern society with high level of modernization and increasing mobility,these problems are attracting the attention of scholars of human geography.Homesickness has gradually become the destination of modern people's spirit and soul.Home and hometown are endowed with richer connotation and loading people's most precious emotions.When change the breakthrough point of studying as the transformation of geographical location,college students become an ideal research object with their characteristics.In order to getting the better education,college students leave their families,staying away from their hometown,separating from the familiar environment,and enter college life and study alone.In addition,switching between home and school periodically is their normal.In this process,their emotions also change in a certain range,which provides the basis for their understanding of homesickness.Moreover,as the sample of homesickness research,they are more homogeneous in age,social experience and education level,and the degree of coordination and understanding in the interview data collection is also high,which provides a convenient condition for the study.This study selects 240 college students in Shaanxi Normal University,and deep interview is the main method of collecting data.Firstly,encoding the interview text through content analysis,and then summarizing the concept dimension of college students' homesickness.Secondly,co-occurrence analysis clarify the relationship between the concepts.Besides the research on the content of the interview,the method of clustering analysis distinguish the difference of college students' homesickness.The study shows that the concept dimension of homesickness of college students mainly includes the dimensions of family significance,interpersonal relationship,daily life,personal memory,home environment and so on.Under the dimensions,it includes 17 concepts such as the dependence,family concern and eating habits.It can be found that the homesickness of college students not only covers the details closely related to daily life,but also emphasizes the spiritual shelter and spiritual comfort which is provided by their home and hometown.Furthermore,the factors that trigger the homesickness of college students have also been summed up:the external causes of the five factors,such as the reality frustration,the time factor and the situation factors.It also includes the three factors of the negative emotion,the emotional demand and the poor body.It is further explained that the homesickness of college students is based on the changes of the place of life learning,and the thoughts of the home and home produced by the combination of the causes and their own factors.In order to find out the inner connection between concepts of homesickness and deepen the understanding of nostalgia of college students,using software netdraw to draw out the concepts of homesickness among college students,and the relationship between concepts and other concepts in various dimensions.It is found that the relationship between them is the core structure of the concept of spirit and emotion,and the elements related to actual home life are gradually merged in the process of expansion.The final peripheral structure is the content of life experience,and the spiritual elements are gradually replaced by the contents related to daily life as the radial structure is dispersed.When discussing the relationship between the concepts and other concepts in a certain dimension,the core structure of the spiritual and emotional experience still occupies the main position,which represents the core of the homesickness of college students.It is worth noting that diet plays an important role in the inner relationship of nostalgia concept,and has become a symbolic symbol representing home and home from the primary fruit belly.Finally,from the difference of the crowd,the difference between the notions of college students' homesickness concept and the different demographic information is compared.It is found that under the five demographic information,female students,liberal arts students and college sophomores(the students with longer home time)have a little higher frequency in some concepts than the other students,while the region and location of the hometown are not have a significant impact on expression.After the use of SPSS 11.0 to cluster the students interviewed,they are divided into three kinds of homogenous type,meaningful type and emotional type based on the frequency of homesickness concepts they expressed in the interview.
