The Interpretation Of "New Stories" In The New Century And The Deepening Of Lu Xun's Research

During the entire creative career of Lu Xun,Old Tales Retold took the longest time,and it was also one of the most controversial works in the critics.For a long time,people have been arguing about its genre,creative methods,slippery,and themes,but it has never been not formed a research system.Although Lu Xun wrote many novels,people are more focused on Call to Arms and Wandering than Old Tales Retold.However,compared to the previous studies,the situation has improved in the new century.The research has entered a boom period.A large number of relevant critical articles and treatises began to emerge,and new criticism theories and methods were constantly enter the research field.Critics tried to find new ways to break the shackles of previous research achievements.Bakhtin poetics,new criticism,Alienation Theory,narratology,post-modernism and other theories of literary criticism enter into the study of Old Tales Retold,which makes the whole research become abnormally chaotic.Some of the criticisms are penetrating,while others simply combine Western theory with literary works.In addition,many researchers noticed the connection between Old Tales Retold and a series of historical novels of 1990s and then studied.However,many problems appeared.For example,after discovering their similarities,the researchers named them as "Old Tales Retold Style" or "New Old Tales Retold" and attempted to classify them in the same literary creation.But because of these names' concept and scope are different,researchers cannot reach agreement.Therefore,the main task of this paper is to analyze the gains and losses of Old Tales Retold research since the 21st century.Hoping that through this study,it can be beneficial to the future research.The body of the paper is divided into three parts.The first part is mainly about the criticism methods of Old Tales Retold and Chinese literature.From the most representative theories such as Bakhtin poetic theory,postmodernism,archetype criticism,and deconstruction,it mainly analyzes whether it is appropriate to use these new theories to interpret the Old Tales Retold,what innovations,and what are the shortcomings,etc.The second part analyzes the artistic features of Old Tales Retold from the perspective of creative techniques.This article analyzes the narrative features,narrative strategies,space-time structures,language features,and characters.Since the 21st century,breakthroughs have been made in these areas of research.For example,irony appears in the narrative feature;the narrative strategy is more inclined to folk and the connection with Chinese traditional culture;parody and defamiliarization appear in novel language;it pays more attention to the handling of space and time in structure and gives a new interpretation of“ancient and modern blend".These views also appear in the analysis of characters and narrative perspective,such as decrowning and collage.According to analyze the these studies,it can make the summary on the overall artistic style of Old Tales Retold in this part and make the preparation for the study of next part.The third part mainly discussed about the innovation of the research.It mainly analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of post-modernist texts,modernist texts,modern historical novels,new historicism novels,and cultural fables.And then it tries to discuss whether there were more appropriate ideas to express the theme of the story.
