As one of the most unique work of Lu Xun, Old Tales Retold has aroused much attention and passionfrom all kinds of scholars and researchers. Besides, for a long time, it has drawn mixed response fromdifferent aspects and area. Within such a complicated state, the researching of Old Tales Retold hasexperienced more than70year’ time and attracted more and more scholars to analyze it from some newperspectives as well as some new theoretical aspects. All of these provided us a “commanding heights”,which makes us stand on the shoulder of giants and see further than others.Combing with the theory of novel morphology, this thesis will talk about the problem of “slipperyform” of Lu Xun’s novel from a deeper aspect. On the basis of which, the recognization of Old Tales Retoldwill be more profound and the research of “slippery form” will be more and more rich.This thesis is composed of three parts: introduction, context and conclusion.The introduction part sorts out the history of study of Old Tales Retold and its “slippery form”. It notonly talks about its research achievement, but also points out its insufficiency and flaw; what’s more, theperspective and meaning of this thesis will also be introduced.The context is divided into four parts:The first chapter analyzes the “slippery form” from a relatively new perspective of history and new wayof understanding structure.“Slippery form” is a kind of restore of history and legends when the oldauthority is canceled and hero becomes ordinary person.
