Many Chinese and Western artists use gray tones to express their emotions in their creations.Nowadays,new media,video,installation and performance art have become the mainstream,while the art of primitive painting has been marginalized under the background of the great contemporary art.However,in the end,those who made innovations and breakthroughs in the language of painting,and the artists who dug deep inside the inner spiritual world and completed introspection all became the masters finally.The content of this article is closely related to my creation,and analyzed several emotional characteristics of grey degree used,studied several works of Chinese and western artists,Especially for painting language gray refining they used,and the use of new materials,pioneering work and relations in which they grew up the living environment,understand the artist use the gray tone that the origins of emotional expression,derived from their experience,derived from their daily life,derived from their life experience and feeling,is also a part of their inner spiritual world.
