This thesis, through researching the career the poems and the paintings of Sushi, analyses how the inner peace and serenity of ancient Chinese literatus have their mind reflected on their paintings.One, seeking true nature of the world from subjective feelings. When Chinese literatus’"indifferent heart" is embodied in their paintings, they first find a peaceful creative mentality in order to experience the reality between object and subjective individual. This section will combine the related theory of Zhuangzi and my own perception of creative, my exploration of Sushi’s creative mentality, and my understanding of the "true" from my painting practice.Second,this section focuses on Sushi’s life experience in Huangzhou. We explore sushi’s ’indifferent heart’ by studying his poetry and the influence he gained from Tao yuanming, Ouyang xiu and others during this period. Through the analysis of su shi "deadwood and spectacular figure","xiaoxiang bamboo stone figure" and so on, we further explore how the artistic conception is implemented in the painting practice from the composition of the pictures and the painting image perspectives.Third,in this part I study sushi’s painting mainly form the movements of his brushwork and the contrast of his paintings, in order to explore how to use the rich painting languages to demonstrate the artists’ deep feeling of the artistic conception of indifferent heart. |
