Why be moral? In order to answer this question,Kant published his book Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten in 1785,the publication of this book symbolizes the establishment of Kant's ethic system. In this book,Kant proposes an important concept called categorical imperative to explain why should we be moral and how to distinct the action that is moral.Kant also proposes many opinions about moral judgement, for example,in Kant's view, the action that has real moral value not only conform to duty, but also proceed from duty.Kant's view point of the moral value received many critiques, his purely requirement of moral and formalized deduction make his moral philosophy looks vacuous, and the concept, categorical imperative, also has many problems, its possibility is doubtable and Kant's deduction of freedom and moral is also a vicious circle. In 1788,Kant published his another book called Kritik der praktischen Vernunft which inherited his view point in Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten, but in this book,Kant changed his deduction,he tried to use the fact of reason.Generally speaking, the argue in GMS and KrV can't be compatible, because the thinking and the text in GMS and KrV are both different. But whatever GMS or KrV,they all point out that the core and prerequisite of the categorical or the moral law is freedom. That's the common view in both books. In this thesis,I'll try to prove the possibility of categorical imperative, treat freedom as my center of argument, through Kant's fact of reason,we can still connect the deduction between Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten and Kritik der praktischen Vernunft. The connection would tell us,how is categorical imperative possible, the understanding of the possible would help us in the general practice of moral.
