What is the relationship between Kant's doctrine of right and his moral philosophy,paticularly that between Categorical Imperative and the universal principle of right? Because of the renaissance of Kant's political philosophy in the last century,the debate on the independence of his doctrine of right reappear in Kant's academic circle.This thesis consist in dealing with this problem.In light of the title,the study is limited to clarify the concept of Categorical Imperative?the principle of right and their relationship.Therefore,the first chapter will sketch the background and the recent debates on this issue.The second chapter will focus on reconstruction of Kant's doctrine of right,under which we will explore the origin of the word,elucidate the universal principle of right and the authorization to use coerce which is essential to Rechtslehre.After that,we try to regard three postulates as a primary line in order to understand Rechstlelre as a whole.The chapter three will discuss the Categorical Imperative in relation to Rechtslehre,so as to find the difference and sameness between them.Chapter four will introduce some of latest debate over this topic,and then try to put an end to this debate.All in all,the conclusion is that although the principle of right can be argued in addition to Categorical Imperative,they share the same idea of freedom in different senses which is needed further exploration.
