On The Heroic Narration In Yao Xueyin's Novels

Hero narration,as an important narrative form,is a permanent topic in literary creation.Yao Xueyin created various heroic figures in his novels,and he also presented the hero narration which was quite different from those of other contemporary writers with his unique artistic techniques.Heroes in Yao Xueyin's works are not merely the characters worth praising;instead,they are also responsible for the narration of the novel,and they reveal his examination of hero narration.In this paper,changes of his hero narration in different times will be explained through textual analysis and the artistic uniqueness of hero narration in his novels will be further summarized from the perspective of hero narration.The body of the paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter deals with the background of how hero narration came into being in Yao Xueyin's novels.Primarily,rudiment and development of hero narration in his novels are studied according to the historical background.They are mainly divided into two parts,external environment,which started the heroism inside him,and author's growth experience,which further developed his heroism.Secondly,geographical environment also enriched the connotation of his hero narration since traditional Chinese Confucian spirit was well inherited in Henan,which allowed the author to add �humaneness� and �conscientiousness� into his hero narration.In the meantime,bandits,as a special group in Central China,influenced the progress of Central China culture significantly,and therefore offered materials for Yao Xueyin's hero narration.Lastly,how the changes of the times influenced his idea of hero is also analyzed.Since this author's literary creation lasted for 70 years,during which he experienced different types of social ideologies,his idea of hero also changed continuously with the changes of the times.In the second chapter,characters of hero narration in Yao Xueyin's novels are constructed.Through deep study of the texts of Yao's novel,heroes in his novels are divided into three types.In his early works,he focused on creating small heroes at the bottom of the society to show how the small figures at the bottom of the society grow;in his novel Endless Night,he portrayed the image of bandits in Central China in the Republic of China era,showing the valuable qualities in these bandit heroes;in his novel Li Zicheng,he created a �historical hero�,Li Zicheng,who was forward-looking,brave and humane.Meanwhile,he also portrayed the image of heroes who started uprisings.These three types of heroes have composed the general framework of the heroes in Yao's novels.The third chapter is about the artistic uniqueness of hero narration in Yao's novel.Firstly,how he learnt creative techniques from others and how he innovated his own ones are discussed.Yao Xueyin absorbed and learnt from the creative techniques of realism at home and abroad,and innovated his own unique creative techniques of realism.Secondly,the author's presentation of native sounds and images is discussed.Yao was always trying to explore the Chinese style and air,so his practice of public oral language and his exploration of Central China customs gave his hero narration obvious native characters.Lastly,Yao's novel inherited the structure,multi-track structure and sub-unit narration,of Chinese classical novels.In his novels,he focused on the major contradictions and conflicts to show the heroism of the heroes as well as the beauty of balance and symmetry.Hero narration in Yao's novels is summarized in the conclusion part.In the meantime,Yao's level of creation and his ill-matched position in literature history are commented on,so that this author could receive a more scientific,reasonable and fair judgment.
