The Effect Of Running On Self-compassion Of Female College Students | Posted on:2019-12-11 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:J H Zhang | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2435330545950077 | Subject:Basic Psychology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Self-compassion has been proved to be a mental ability to cope with negative emotions and bad experience that occurred in the situation of distress and caused by frustration,and a psychological resource that has close relationship with psychological resilience and mental health.There are significant gender differences in self-compassion,and women are lower than men.Some studies have already found that running can effectively promote self-compassion.The purpose of this research is to systematically investigate the effect of running on self-compassion of female college students and it is composed of three studies.The first study is a nationwide survey which investigates the status quo of college students' self-compassion,the relationship of running participating with self-compassion and the sexual difference between male students and female students,using convenience sampling.The second study is a pre-and post-test of randomize control trail design(RCT)which includes one experiment group and one control group.Its purpose is to try to explore the effects of running on female college students' self-compassion.The third study continues to explore the different effects of different running parameters(intensity,single running time)on female college students' self-compassion using complete randomized design in order to obtain the dose-effects of different running conditions on female colleges.The statistics of the three studies are : the first study mainly uses correlation analysis and independent t-test;the second study mainly uses independent t-test between experiment group and control group;and the third study mainly uses analysis of variance of two factors repeated measurement-running intensity(low,medium)multiply single running time(30 mins,40 mins,50mins).Having summarized these three studies,it concludes as follow:(1)Self-compassion has close relationship with mental state and psychological well-being.The higher the level of self-compassion is,the less of the netative emotions are and the better the positive emotions and psychological health is.(2)The self-compassion of college students has sexual difference.Male college students have significant difference with female college students.(3)Running can improve the self-compassion of female college students.The significant improvement occurred after 4 weeks' continuous running.(4)The improvements of self-compassion of female college students are obtained by elevating the sub-components of self-compassion and the order and extent of increases on these components is different.(5)The intensity,frequency and single time of running have no significant difference effects on female college students' self-compassion.(6)The increases of female college students' self-compassion can maintain over half a year's period. | Keywords/Search Tags: | self-compassion, running, female college students, intervention, dose-effect | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
