The Image Creation And Main Aria Analysis Of Juansheng In The Opera "Sorrow For The Past"

The opera "Regret for the Past" is an outstanding representative work in the national opera of our country,and the novel creative ideas and unique artistic techniques are well received by the industry participant.Based on Lu Xun’s novel of the same name,the opera is scripted by Wang Quan and Han Wei and it’s composed by Shi Guangnan.In 1981,it was first performed in Beijing to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Lu Xun.The opera tells a story of Juan Sheng and Zi Jun who are affected by the May 4th movement.They shake off the yoke of the feudal family and bravely pursue free love.And they meet,get to know each other and then fall in love.Later due to the pressure of society and their own reasons,they separate after the initial sweetness and the storm of life.The opera is faithful to the original novel and it’s unique in the structure.The whole opera can be divided into four scenarios,spring,summer,autumn and winter.Through the change of the seasons,the opera tells the hero and heroine’s short but beautiful love.It has a symbolic meaning.Thesis selects the topic from the perspective of Juan Sheng and analyzes the main aria of Juan Sheng.The characters in the novel by Lu Xun is taken as reference object,and the original "Juan Sheng’s note" is consistent with this concept.Compared with the image portray of the novel and the role shaping of the opera,this paper analyzes how the opera to express the character of Juan Sheng in the novel.Through the analysis and research of the opera "Regret for the Past",the author interprets the image of the hero Juan Sheng.For the study of the main aria Juan Sheng in the opera "Regret for the Past",the thesis elucidates the structure arrangement,singing-analysis and aesthetic characteristics to restore the principal role of the characters in the original.On the basis of summing up predecessors’ experience,the author study and discuss the method of Literature research,case study and music analysis respectively from the selection of spring,summer,autumn and winter four scenarios “She Took My Heart Away”,"Wisteria","the Golden Autumn Light" and "a Sword Stabbed My Heart".On the one hand,starting from the music ontology,the opera illuminates composer’s creative thoughts by analyzing music score specifically and adding some literal statement.On the other hand,the opera analyzes the singing processing to achieve the effect of expression.By the study of the role of Juan Sheng,we can understand the singing art deeply and put the understanding and comprehension into singing.And then the author can improve the level of singing better,shape the character image more successfully and understand the important significance and historical value of "Regret for the Past" more profoundly.The study finds that in the opera of "Regret for the Past",Juan Sheng shaped by the image is not invariable.Over time,the composer and playwright put Juan Sheng’s personal quality and image of the evolution into the change of four seasons,show a different character in different seasons.By the transformation of the seasons,the opera presents Juan Sheng’s character features to the audience.
