Perspective is a writing technique which Virginia Woolf borrowed consciously from painting.Non-personality,dramatization and poeticization as three elements of Woolf's perspective are just like the points in multi-focus perspective of painting, which work together to produce a stereoscopic and panoramic effect. This thesis aims at exploring the technique of perspective in Woolf's Between the Acts.Non-personality,dramatization and poeticization function like a trinity in this novel.First, the element of non-personality could be seen in Woolf's depictions of Miss La Trobe and some objects, which leads the reader to look at God,man and nature from a macroscopic viewpoint.Second,by designing acts in and out of the pageant with parallel episodes and polyphony in this novel,Woolf successfully dramatizes the whole story.Last,Woolf adopts symbolism and simplification in her characterization of Isabella and descriptions of some objects.By doing so Woolf tends to make Between the Acts a poetic novel.Through analyzing perspective in Between the Acts, this thesis may to some degree enrich the scholarship about Virginia Woolf.
