Research On Liu Cixin's Science Fiction Narrative

This dissertation takes all the science fictions of Liu Cixin as the object of study,and takes the classical narratology as the method,and takes the narrative features of Liu Cixin’s science fiction as the main content.The dissertation is divided into the introduction,three chapters and conclusion.The introduction including the present situation of Liu Cixin’s works,the general research situation at present,the significance and thought of dissertation.The first chapter analyzes the types of actors and actions of Liu Cixin’s works.His works expanded literary image and created the racial image,the world image,the material image of science fiction.About character image,the paranoid characters are prominent,which is a major feature of Liu Cixin’s science fiction.With regard to the action,it is discussed from two aspects:the pursuit of truth action and technological innovation action.Referring to the theory of Algirdas Julien Greimas,we analyze the commonalities and characteristics of action patterns.The second chapter discusses the characteristics of narrative time and narrative space of Liu Cixin’s works.In the study of narrative time,it refers to the theory system of Gerard Genette,analyzes the characteristics of the narrative time,and studies the works from the aspects of time’s deformation,objectification,time span and time series.In the study of space narration,we refer to the development of the theory of narratology in the aspect of space steering,from the type of space and the space representation of the characters in the object of study.The study not only based on the basic theory of narratology,but also analyzes the characteristics of space-time in science fiction.The third chapter studies the narrative voice and narrative focalization in Liu Cixin’s works.Analyzing the narrator’s characteristics from three dimensions:character/non character,reliability/unreliability and implicit/manifestation.Through the analysis of the narrator,the unreliable narration and the narrator’s intervention,the characteristics of the narrative subject in Liu Cixin’s works are summarized.With regard to the focus of narration,the paper analyzes the dynamic changes between the narrators,the focus and the actors,in order to explore the influence of different focusing methods on the value of science fiction.
