When it comes to contemporary Japanese movies,Kore-eda Hirokazu has become an inseparable director,whose importance is not only reflected in the international reputation for winning many of the worldâs mainstream film awards,but also is reflected in the care of the individual in the film as well as the characteristic visual style.This paper attempts to introduce the theory of âauteur theoryâ as well as criticism method into the research of Kore-eda Hirokazuâs film,and explore the consistent themes and distinctive personal styles in his films combined with the way of close reading.The paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter combs the concept and the development of âauthor theoryâ,and completes the identification of Kore-eda Hirokazu âs identity as movie author according to Francois Truffautâs quality requirements for movie authors.The second chapter mainly discusses the topic expression of Kore-eda Hirokazu based on the personal utterance from three aspects: the loss and growth of the individual,the âhuman relationshipâ in the family space and the display of public space.The third chapter mainly discusses Kore-eda Hirokazu âs unique personal style embodied in the film from two aspects of the narrative feature and the audio-visual style,and comes to a conclusion that its narrative strategy is more artistic,while its audiovisual style is realistic. |
