“Sorrows and joys of the middle-aged” Trilogy(Unending Love,Long Live the Missis,Sorrows and Joys of a Middle-Aged Man)were directed by Sang Hu in the 1940 s.They are the precious expressions on the Chinese screen about “the human nature of the middle classes”.This thesis intends to do a systematic study of these three films.It starts from Sang Hu on the choice of this subject,makes a concrete analysis of every film and intends to explore the various “sorrows and joys in the world" about the middle-aged people of the middle classes in the films.The paper will summarize the common characteristics and intrinsic relationships of the three films.In this way,it will explore the inner situation and spiritual confusion of the middle-aged people of the middle classes and find the deep humanistic observation in the films,and then reveal the value and meaning of “Sorrows and joys of the middle-aged” Trilogy in Sang Hu's creative career and establish their status and contribution in the history of Chinese films in the 1940s. |
