Zhao Mengfu's "Srangama Sutra" Technique And Its Application In Creation

Zhao Mengfu's running script firstly mainly from Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi,and later from Li Yong.By respectively comparing Zhao Mengfu's masterpiece,the Shurangama sutra,with Wang Xizhi's works,Lanting Preface,and Li Yong's works,Yun Hui General's Stele,this paper makes out where Zhao's the Shurangama sutracomes,with a large number of photo's comparison in four aspects such as pencraft,knot words,scripts' going and composing.Meanwhile,Zhao Mengfu's writing techniques and aesthetics,formed by his own experience,background of the times and characteristics of his personality are also reflected in his works of the Shurangama sutra.What he learns and creates together constitute the technique characteristic of the Shurangama sutra.The aim of analyzing and summarizing the skill characteristics of Zhao's Shurangama sutrain those four aspects is to make a deeper understanding of them,hence,to apply them in calligraphy works' creation.In the process of creating,the effect can be obtained by critical studying and selectively applying skills derived from Zhao's the Shurangama sutra,according to the thought to be conveyed and the needs of different scripts' factors.In Zhao's Shurangama sutra,there are two shades of ink close to withered white.In writer's creative work,that kind of method in which the dry and dark appear sharply is tried.The writer wrote more characters with each dip.And in each line,the thick pen and the dead pen both are reflected,and the thick transits to the dry.Dry and dense,virtual and real,both are created to obtain the sense of fully-experienced life.
