On Op Art-Past And Present

Op Art was an art movement occurred in 1960s.By analyzing artists,works,critical documents and history background of this art movement,this thesis construct an art history context for explaining the occurrence and development of this art style and the process of its popularity and decline.This thesis also elucidated the character and principle of this art style by quoting research on Psychology.Op Art was highly developed in the mass culture field after it occurred.This thesis studied its impact on the field of design,fashion,architecture and game,revealing its profound influence on modern visual culture.As an art movement,Op Art was quickly declined under the crash of Pop Art.But Op Art deeply affected contemporary art and visual culture.In the last part of this thesis,I analyzed the art works from the latest exhibition on Op Art hold in Louisiana Gallery,Copenhagen and studied the heritage of Op Art and its new development in the digital time.
