| As a compulsory course for non-English majors,College English has been paid much attention to in our country.In recent years,with the development of global economic integration,the reform of College English Test and the new requirements of university English curriculum,the traditional teaching model to explain the text in grammar and vocabulary has been unable to meet the new requirements of improving college students’ practical application ability of English language.In view of this,This paper introduces Dimensions of Learning theory of the famous American curriculum reform expert Robert Marzano,and attempt to construct the College English"five dimensions" teaching mode based on the comprehensive and practicable theory.The College English "five dimensions" teaching mode intends to improve the college English teaching as well as the comprehensive quality of students for our society.Except introduction and conclusion,the main body of the thesis consists of four parts.The first part is the implication of College English "five dimensions" teaching mode.This teaching mode,which aims to cultivate compound talents adapting to social development,improves the enthusiasm of students for study and the flexibility of teaching as well.It combines the five dimensions of Dimensions of Learning Theory with the advantages of task-based learning to enhance the students’ practical application ability of English language.The students complete the task to improve their general knowledge of English,humanities,self-learning ability,creative thinking,etc through the way.It also affects the formation of student life view and values positively.The second part of the thesis is the main theoretical support for model construction.Social cognitive theory emphasizes learning formed by interactions of people,behavior and environment,and people have a sense of self-efficacy.Social constructivist theory emphasizes that learning is a meaningful process constructed by learner.Humanism emphasis on human learning is self-actualization.These three theories regard human motivation,psychological feelings and expectations and teaching environment as closely related factors.Therefore,these theories will become the favorable support of theoretical aspects of the model.The third part is the construction of the mode,which is the core of this article.Through the analysis of the existing task-based teaching mode and the integration of the characteristics of the current college English learning,it attempts to build a formula in the form of dimensional perspective of college English teaching mode.It then interprets its composition and characteristics and puts forward specific practices for practical teaching.the College English "five dimensions"teaching mode classifies study into five dimensions.The first dimension is attitudes and perceptions;the second dimension is acquire and integrate knowledge;the third dimension is Extend and Refine Knowledge;the fourth dimension is use knowledge meaningfully;the fifth dimension is habits of mind.It takes account of learning cognitive and affective,knowledge information acquisition,integration skills,and learning ability,etc.viewing learning as a integrated and multi-dimensional process,which will be conducive to in China’s college English teaching for the students’ comprehensive ability.The fourth part is the introduction of the application range,conditions and remarks of the mode,the College English "five dimensions" teaching mode is aimed at general non-English major undergraduate students in the universities,and its form of teaching activities base on the basic groups of students.In the teaching process,the clear goals and tasks of teaching should be established,the thinking and method of teaching should be changed,the learning process of students and the teaching environment should be paid more attention,and teaching process should be carried out according to the specific situation. |
