Observation On The Immediate Effect Of Acupuncture At The Qimen Point In Improving The Slow Coronary Blood Flow

Aim and BackgroundSlow coronary flow phenomenon(SCFP)refers to the delayed opacification of coronary arteries during angiography in patients with normal or near-normal coronary arteries.Patients can be presented with symptoms like chest suppression,chest pain and palpitation and in severe cases they could die of malignant arrhythmia and heart attack.However,its etiopathegenesis and pathophysiology remain unclear,leading to the treatment predicament.This study aims to verify that acupuncture can improve SCFP patients' clinical symptoms,reduce corrected thrombolysis in myocardial infarction frame count(CTFC)and speed up blood flow velocity in order to lay the foundation for acupuncture to become an effective and safe treatment for SCFP.MethodWe enrolled 70 inpatients from the cardiology department of Shuguang Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from 2018.3 to 2019.5,in whom SCFP was detected,and divided them randomly into two groups,each of which has 35 patients.We gave the acupuncture group acupuncture treatment of Ximen(PC 6)and retained the needle for 10 minutes during the angiography while for patients in sham point group,we did acupuncture on the point which is neither an acupoint nor on any meridians.We observed the changes of CTFC before and after the acupuncture treatment and wrote down the improvement of the symptoms and heart function.All data was analyzed by statistics software SPSS 21.0 to judge if SCFP can benefit from acupuncture.When p<0.05 we believed the results to be clinically significant.ResultBefore the experiment,the basic line(age,gender,each related lab report,TCM symptoms index,CTFC value,heart function grade and so on)of the two groups has no significant difference(P>0.05).After the acupuncture treatment,CTFC value of the sham point group doesn't fall down significantly(P>0.05)while that of the acupuncture group reduces from 63.2±21.4 to 53.3±22.7.The reduction has significant difference from that before the experiment(P<0.05).The TCM symptoms index of the participants of both groups also shows decrease compared to that before the treatment(P<0.05),which may be caused by the console effect of acupuncture.But the reduce tendency of the acupuncture group is more apparent than that of the sham point group.There was no signifcant improvement in heart function grade(P>0.05)after the experiment.ConclusionAcupuncture on Ximen(PC6)can improve the coronary blood velocity of SCFP patients and improve the patients' symptom.The curing effect of Ximen(PC 6)is better than that of the point which is neither an acupoint nor on any meridians.Acupuncture is useful in relieving patients' symptom.The heart function doesn't improve after the experiment.
