Objective: To investigate the incidence and related risk factors of recurrent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty for postmenopausal vertebral compression fractures. Methods: From January 2017 to June 2019,PVP was performed on patients with vertebral compression fractures admitted to the Spinal Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The deadline for follow-up is February 2020.A total of 91 cases were included in the study.According to whether vertebral compression fracture occurred again,91 patients were divided into fracture group(21 cases)and non-fracture group(70 cases). The clinical data of all patients, including age, height, bone density, previous history of brittle fracture(except thoracolumbar spine),body mass index(BMI),bone cement injection amount, bone cement dispersion, scoliosis, kidney tonifying herbs, kidney deficiency score,OSTA index(limited to postmenopausal women),anti-osteoporosis treatment and other clinical data were collected and analyzed.Univariate analysis was carried out on all relevant factors of the two groups of patients.Logistic regression analysis was carried out on all factors with obvious difference in univariate analysis. Results: All 91 patients successfully completed the operation without serious complications.Among them,21 patients(23%)suffered from fracture again after PVP and 70 patients(77%)did not suffer from fracture again after PVP.Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences between the two groups in terms of history of brittle fracture(except thoracolumbar spine),cement injection amount, cement dispersion, scoliosis, kidney deficiency score,anti-osteoporosis treatment and bone mineral density(P < 0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that bone cement injection and bone density were the risk factors for refracture(P <0.05).The more bone cement is injected, the higher the risk of recurrent fracture and the lower the bone density value, the higher the risk of recurrent fracture. Conclusion: Female postmenopausal osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures are prone to recurrent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty.Bone cement content and bone mineral density are risk factors for recurrent vertebral fractures.
