Objective:To observe the effect of BMI Index on acupuncture treatment of peripheral facial paralysis, the patients with different BMI index were compared and observed,to analyze the changes of symptoms and the scores of facial disability index(including physical function and social life function)of patients before and after treatment, and to compare the effect of BMI Index on the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on peripheral facial paralysis,to provide guidance and basis for clinical improvement of curative effect. Methods:The BMI index(Body Mass Index Weight/Height in square international units kg/m~2)was calculated in 60 patients who met the criteria.Patients with a BMI of less than 21 were included in the underweight group, patients with a BMI greater than 25 were included in the obesity group,30 cases each group. After 3 period of treatment,Record the Sunnybrook research(Toronto)facial nerve function score(FDIP)score, physiological function, social interaction and feel(FDIS)score before and after treatment, and them the Adverse events score, and observe and evaluate the overall curative effect.Results:1.Comparison of social interaction and self-feeling(FDIS)score:There was a significant difference in Sunnybrook score between the two groups before and after Treatment(P<0.01),indicating that acupuncture can improve the Sunnybrook score of patients with peripheral facial paralysis of different BMI index, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that acupuncture was superior to obesity in improving Sunnybrook score in peripheral facial paralysis patients.2.Comparison of physiological function(FDIP)score:There were significant differences in FDIP scores between the two groups before and after Treatment(P<0.01),indicating that acupuncture can improve FDIP scores of patients with facial paralysis with different BMI,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that acupuncture treatment was superior to obesity in improving FDIP score of peripheral facial paralysis patients.3.Comparison of social interaction and self-feeling(FDIS)score:There were significant differences in FDIS scores between the two groups before and after Treatment(P<0.01),indicating that acupuncture therapy could improve the FDIS scores of patients with peripheral facial paralysis with different BMI index, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01),indicating that acupuncture treatment was superior to obesity in improving FDIS score in peripheral facial paralysis patients.4.Comparison of the overall clinical efficacy:The difference of the total effective rate between the two groups was statistically significant(p<0.05),which showed that the effect of acupuncture was better than that of the obese group.Conclusion:1.Acupuncture has the best therapeutic effect on peripheral facial paralysis patients with BMI<21.2.In the process of acupuncture treatment of peripheral facial paralysis, the degree of fat and thin is one of the influencing factors of acupuncture effect.
