Objective:To verify the effectiveness of a new clinical test we developed to diag-nose the "SLAP Lesion" of the shoulder joint.Method:137 cases with painful shoulders from Feb 2010 to Aug 2010,who underwent the primary arthroscopic surgery were selected.4 clinical tests which include "Speed,Yergason,0' Brein",and a new test "Reverse Biceps Loading Test" we developed were used to give a primary diagnosis of the"SLAP Lesion".Then the arthroscopic surgery was done, the "SLAP Lesion"was documented and classified during the arthroscopic.Result:52 out of 137 cases were confirmed "SLAP Lesion" or biceps long head tendon tear, the sensitivity rate of the new test for the diagnosis is 76.92%,the specificity rate is 43.53%.The "SLAP" and biceps long head tendon were in higher tension condi-tion when the shoulder joint flexed backward and extreme lateral rotation, slightly force can induce pain,so the new test has a higher sensitivity, but the anterior capsule of the shoulder joint and part of rotator cuff were also in higher tension situa-tion,so the specificity was affected. Conclusions:The new test has a higher sensitivity to diagnose "SLAP Lesion",and can be as a good screen test.
