Objectives This research is to find out if the VEGF and TGF-? 1 are correlated with the development of cerebral aneurysm and glioma.Methodology specimen A is excised by craniotomy from a cerebral aneurysm which was diagnosed by CTA;specimen B is from a MRI diagnosed glioma;specimen C is the control group, normal cerebral artery tissue, which was harvested in a trauma case.By applying an immunohistochemical technique, the researchers make the measurements of the levels of VEGF and TGF-?1 in these three specimens.A statistic analysis is completed. Results the level of VEGF and TGF-?1 in either specimen A or specimen B is higher than the specimen C(control group)with a significance less than 0.05;there is no significant difference between the levels of these two factors in one selected specimen, the level of one factor is proportional to the level of the other one. Conclusions the VEGF and TGF-?1 may play a role in damage to the vascular wall.TGF-B1 may elevate the level of VEGF to regulate the progression of neovascularization which is a very important step for the development of neoplasia.the suppression of the expression of TGF-?1 and VEGF may offer a new field to prevention and treatment of cerebral aneurysm and glioma.
