Pleats-the Design Metaphor And Possibility Of Folding

In this paper,the way of folding plants as the starting point of research,from the perspective of design,folding as a design method,not only can the shape of the object be the shape of the space structure remodeling,but also for the design of various fields to bring a different solution.This article is divided into four parts:The first part of life through the observation and thinking of life found that life is a dynamic and time-long folding process.The many plants around us,all the folds they exhibit have functional,logical,regular expandable folding forms.The second part,through further study of the way of plant folding,finds that it contains a large number of mechanical and geometric principles and methods.People can sum up the basic folding rules and usage strategies.The third part combines the results of the above two parts,from the daily use"point of view to study those with the way of folding plants and functions as its original model design.and the new forms,new features,values and symbols that have been tinned in the process of its use.The fourth part takes the usual folding in the daily way in the present contemporary fields of design extension as a clue,explores the metaphor of folding.With the development of science and technology,the collapsible organization of spatial structure can not only be interpreted in multiple dimensions,but also provide more design possibilities for all areas involving human life.
