This paper is based on the actual needs of Guizhou Science and Technology Museum,the purpose of this paper is using the redesign method to make the exhibits which set aside for many years,called the renovation exhibits,reach to the current exhibits level.Then donate them to the underdeveloped areas for subsequent use,which not only solve the problem of the exhibits accumulation in the warehouse of Guizhou Science and Technology Museum,but also solve the problem which shortage of funds to promotet the construction of science and technology museums in Underdeveloped Areas.Firstly,this paper studies the relevant theories of value engineering and redesign theory.Then put forward a process from the perpective of redesign value which renovation exhibits contain to classify the renovation exhibits.Then divide the renovation exhibits into three categories,which are the improvement category,the repair category and the disassembly category,the renovation exhibits which classified into the improvement category are the main objects of value engineering redesign.Then,analysis the functional and Physical characteristics of current exhibits to identify the differences between renovation exhibits and current exhibits.Secondly,introducing the method of value engineering into the redesign process of renovation exhibits,then put forward the redesign method of renovation exhibits based on value engineering and evaluation elements of redesign.The main steps of the redesign method include functional analysis,functional evaluation,quantitative calculation of component functions,component costs and component values.According to the calculation results to determind the components which need to be redesign.The evaluation elements of redesign include scientific education,participation interest,overall unity,overall safety and cost control.Finally,this method is used to improve the exhibit called "Wind Power Generation" for design practice,to verify whether this method can effectively guide the re-design work.The process and redesign method which proposed in this paper are used to classify and redesign the renovation exhibits of Guizhou Science and Technology Museum in actually work,which ultimately meets the needs of Guizhou Science and Technology Museum and enables the exhibits to be successfully reused.It also provides a successful example and practical idea for the other Science and Technology Museum.
