Electroencephalogram(EEG)is a signal that records the electrical activity of the brain through collecting potentials from electrodes placed on the human or animal scalp.Brain-Computer Interface(BCI),as a bridge between EEG signals and peripheral hardware devices,performs feature processing and analysis on complex EEG signals,and converts EEG signals into control signals via a main controller to arrive at the control over peripheral devices for the smart home system.Compared with the traditional smart home system,the intelligent home system with EEG control boasts a higher level of intelligence and more user-friendly.As regards the elderly with movement disorder or the patients suffering from paraplegia,stroke,or other motor skill disorders,the system may greatly enhance their self-help ability.Based on the design of traditional smart home systems,the EEG based smart home system designed in this paper uses Emotiv EPOC+ idea controller to acquire data of EEG signals based on MI(Left/Right hand).After feature extraction and classification identification of the raw EEG signals,they are converted into corresponding control signals by EEG processing program to realize the control of the smart home devices.In this paper,the system designs and analyzes the processing and analysis of EEG signals and the control implementation of the host computer.According to the overall structural requirements of the system,the hardware platform structure was designed and constructed accordingly.The gateway controller of the system selects STM32F103C8T6 as the main control chip,which realizes the collection and processing of the data fed back by each sub-node,then realizes the control of the corresponding sub-node by EEG signal control orders.In order to meet the data transmission requirements of the system,it uses ZigBee technology for wireless communication,and uses CC2530 as the main control chip to build a smart home wireless network.ZigBee acts as a coordinator between main controller and sub-node to transfer orders to slave computer.The main controller sends orders to the ZigBee coordinator by serial communication.After receiving orders from main controller,the coordinator controls corresponding ZigBee sub-nodes by different commands,and finally realizes orders’ transmission and control.After the completion of the system hardware platform design,in the software design part of the system,the EEG control analysis and processing program,the smart home system communication network and hardware drivers are programmed and designed to ensure the control mode of the smart home system(traditional/EEG)can be achieved well.The system alsodesigns related programs such as the Web platform and the client,which is convenient for users to view the environmental status information and the usage of appliances through the interface.Finally,we jointly debug the EEG intelligent home system,and analyze the platform performance based on the test results,then propose optimization and improvement suggestions for the inadequacies of the system platform.
