Entering the Tang Dynasty,in harmony with social and economic development,the novel has also developed to a new height.From the perspective of literature from social reality,the study of Tang Dynasty novels is undoubtedly of great significance for understanding the Tang Dynasty society.The academic research on the novels of the Tang Dynasty has achieved fruitful results.This article mainly uses the "Full Tang Five Dynasties Novels" as the text basis of the study,and combines the "Tai Ping Guang Ji" and other literature materials to classify the information about the diet.As an entry point,this paper examines the types of diets appearing in the novels of the Tang Dynasty,analyzes the food culture information transmitted by the novels,and traces the roots to correct the shortcomings in this aspect.Taking the novel as a new perspective,it explores the food culture displayed in it,in order to outline the development of social development in the Tang Dynasty and further deepen the understanding and perception of the Tang Dynasty society.The first chapter of the thesis examines the rice food and noodles involved in the novels of the Tang Dynasty,specifically from the three aspects of cakes,rice and porridge.The second chapter is about the soup described in the novels of the Tang Dynasty.The classification and research of glutinous foods are discussed from five aspects: beverage soup,therapeutic soup,broth,soup,seasoning and soup.These two chapters are of great value in revealing people's dietary choices and changes.The third chapter is a further analysis of the chapters on diet description in Tang Dynasty novels.It shows the relationship between novel writing and real eating life from the perspectives of luxury,imagination and singularity.The fourth chapter analyzes the diet in Tang Dynasty novels.Taboo,the reasons for dietary taboos were discussed from three aspectsdiet nutrition,social customs and religious beliefs.Based on this,the value of dietary taboos was analyzed.In the final part of the thesis,the author summarizes the characteristics of the food culture in the novels of the Tang Dynasty and summarizes the role of the novel in the study of food culture.
