Oil spills not only cause a lot of waste of resources,but also seriously the environmental pollution.The oil spills in marine lead to a serious threat for the marine ecological balance.As one of the most effective ways to deal with the oil spill pollution,absorption method using the oil absorbent materials is applied to absorb,separate and recover the spill.However,the traditional oil-absorbing materials could not meet the requirements of environmental protection,efficient and fast separation.Therefore,it is an urgent need to develop new oil absorbent materials.In this paper,oil-absorbing polymeric materials and the magnetic nanoparticles are combined to build multi-functional oil-absorbing polymeric resins.This new oil-absorbing resins exhibit not only good adsorption performance,but also magnetic responsiveness.Thus the oil-absorbing polymers can be quickly separated from water surface by using an exterior magnet.Herein,a series of magnetically oil-absorbing polymers were synthesized by solution polymerization combined with freeze-drying technique.And their adsorption capacities,adsorption rates,hydrophobic,oil-water separation and recycle adsorption properties were investigated.The influences of monomer ratio and crosslinking agent on the adsorption properties of the resins were studied.The main research contents are as follows:(1)Polymeric resins of P(tBS-co-MMA)/Fe3O4 were synthesized by using 4-tert-butylstyrene(tBS)and methyl methacrylate(MMA)as monomers,divinylbenzene(DVB)as a crosslinking agent,in the presence of---modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles.It is found that.When the amount of tBS and MMA were 2 mL,namely monomer ratio was 2:2,DVB amount was 0.5 mL,the as-fabricated magnetically oil-absorbing polymers showed maximum adsorption capacities for organic reagents and oils.These polymeric resins absorbed organic reagents and oil quickly and can reached saturation within 20 min.The contact angles and oil-water separation measurements tests shown that these polymers are hydrophobic and can be separated by using a magnet from the surface of water after adsorb oils from surface of water.These polymers can be reused more than 10 times and their maximum absorption capacities for chloroform and ethyl acetate were still more than 75%to the original cycle.(2)P(tBS-co-BMA)/Fe3O4 was prepared by solution polymerization of---modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles with monomers and crosslinking agents.The polymers were obtained by using tBS and butyl methacrylate(BMA)as monomers,DVB as a crosslinking agent.After freezing drying,the monolithic oil-absorbing polymers were formed.When the amount of tBS and BMA were 2 mL,DVB amount was 0.5 mL,the polymers with maximum adsorption capacities were obtained.The magnetic polymers from tBS and BMA absorbed organic reagents and oils quickly and reached satuation in 20 min.The contact angles of water droplet and oil-water separation measurements exhibit that the polymers are hydrophobici and can adsorb oils effectively from water.The oil-absorbed polymers can be quickly separated by a magnet.Furthermore,the magnetically oil-absorbing polymers can be reused more than 10 times with their absorption capacities kept 75%and 70%of their original status.(3)Magnetically polymers from P(tBS-co-St)/Fe3O4 were fabricated by using tBS and styrene(St)as monomers,DVB as a crosslinking agent,in the presence of Fe3O4 nanoparticles.The monolithic oil-absorbing porous materials were obtained by freeze-dried of the polymers.When the amount of tBS and St were 2 mL,DVB amount was 0.5 mL,the polymeric resins exhibit maximum adsorption capacities for different organic reagents and oils.The polymers for all the testing reagents and oils can reach the saturation status in 20 min.The contact angles and oil-water separation measurements mean that the materials are hydrophobic and can be separated effectively by a magnetic field.These polymers can be reused and their absorption capacities for chloroform and ethyl acetate are still kept higher than 86%and 80%after 10 times.(4)With St and MMA as monomers,DVB as a crosslinking agent,P(St-co-MMA)/Fe3O4 polymers with high oil absorption properties were prepared by solution polymerization and freeze-drying.When the amount of tBS and St were 2 mL,DVB amount was 0.5 mL,the as-fabricated polymers are maximum adsorption capacities for different organic reagents and oils.The P(St-co-MMA)/Fe3O4 polymers absorbed oils quickly and polymers with saturated oils were obtained in 20 min.The contact angles and oil-water separation measurements show that the polymers are hydrophobic and can be used to separate oils from water..Furthermore,the magnetically oil-absorbing polymers can be reused many times without obvious lost in their oil absorption capacities. |
