Water is a precious resource for human survival. With the increase of population and the development of industry and agriculture, scientific and rational exploitation and use of groundwater has become an urgent global problem. In the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,Wulanbu and the eastern part of the desert, water resources are scarce. In order to maintain the sustainable use of groundwater resources in this area, this paper uses groundwater resources survey and data collection methods to find out the hydrogeological conditions in the eastern part of Wulanbu and the desert. The principle of water balance, through the method of numerical simulation of groundwater flow, preliminary calculation of groundwater resources(including natural recharge resources and exploitable resources),determine the allowable amount of groundwater exploitation in the region, and arrange well groups to properly extract groundwater.Conducted scientific groundwater resource evaluation and reached the following conclusions:1.The groundwater in this area mainly includes Quaternary loose rock pore water aquifer,Quaternary loose rock confined water aquifer and bedrock fissure water aquifer.2.The area is rich in groundwater storage resources and has a strong aquifer storage capacity. The total natural storage resource of groundwater is 3,653,840,000 m~3,and the natural recoverable amount is 34,275,460 m~3.3.The submerged confined water interbedded mining area in this area mainly has a Quaternary pore submersible water storage aquifer(single well water inflow 100-500m~3/d)and Quaternary pore submersible water storage type(single well water inflow)<10m~3/d),Quaternary pore-bearing water storage aquifer(single well water inflow 500-1000m~3/d);non-submersible mining area mainly capable aquifer only Quaternary pore confined water storage type(Single well water inflow is 500-1000m~3/d);mining in the bedrock area is difficult, the groundwater is not uniform in water, and the water content is small.Mining is not recommended.4.From the perspective of the proposed well plan, the study area is rich in water, and the groundwater can be mined by single well or group well mining. The volume of water under pressure is richer than that of diving. The mining volume of single well diving(well depth<30m)should be controlled within 1000m~3/d,and the mining volume of group well diving(well depth<30m)should be controlled within 500m~3/d;single well pressurized water(The production volume of well depth 30m~150m should be controlled at about 1000m~3/d,and mining in the bedrock fissure water area is not recommended.
