Research On The Impact Of New Agricultural Technology Extension Methods On Farmers' Technology Adoption Behavior

The extension of agricultural technology is an important means of accelerating the transformation of agricultural scientific and technological achievements and promote the development of agricultural modernization.With the development of Internet information technology and portable mobile terminals,agricultural technology extension in China can be divided into a traditional and new mode.Traditional agricultural technology extension methods primarily include on-site guidance,technical training,scientific and technological demonstration and mass media(newspapers,radio and television)publicity.New agricultural technology extension mode means to release technical information,solve farmers' technical problems online,and provide farmers with agricultural technology support through new media,such as agricultural technology WeChat public accounts and agricultural technology extension mobile phone applications(APP).Based on the data of 759 farmers in Shandong and Henan Province,this paper used the propensity score matching method to explore the direct effect,spillover effect and distributional effect of a new agricultural technology extension mode on the technical adoption behavior of farmers.The study found that the new agricultural technology extension mode somewhat improved the level of technical adoption of farmers,with a partial spillover effect,and different age and scale of operation of farmers benefit differently from the technology extension.Relative to farmers who do not use the new agricultural technology extension mode(farmers who did not use the new mode were present in the same village),using the new agricultural technology extension mode farmers significantly improved the adoption level of soil testing-formulated fertilization technology,water-saving irrigation technology and green control techniques.In addition,other farmers who did not use the new agricultural technology extension mode(new mode farmers exist in the same village)improved the adoption level of soil testing-formulated fertilization technology and water-saving irrigation technology but did not significantly enhance the level of green control techniques adoption.The results of household head age and business scale subdivision showed that compared with the non-used farmers(farmers who do not use the new mode are present),the new agricultural technology extension mode has a significant positive impact on the technology adoption of the elderly and small-scale farmers,but has no significant impact on the young and middle-aged farmers and whose farms above medium size.Therefore,first,expand publicity and guide farmers to adopt the new agricultural technology extension mode.In view of the new method of agricultural technology popularization has improved the level of technology adoption of farmers to a certain extent,in order to continue to improve the coverage of agricultural technology,the government should pay more attention to the new method of agricultural technology popularization and guide farmers to adopt the new method of agricultural technology popularization.Second,give full play to the spillover effect of the new agricultural technology extension.For the agricultural technology with high knowledge intensity,on the one hand,platforms such as WeChat public account of agricultural technology and APP of agricultural technology extension should further improve the quality of articles and videos pushing,strengthen two-way interaction with farmers,and improve the technical knowledge level of farmers adopting the new agricultural technology extension mode.On the other hand,in order to encourage the farmers who adopt the new agricultural technology extension method to spread the technical knowledge and information to the farmers who do not,the corresponding extension incentive measures should be considered.Thirdly,we should pay attention to the distribution effect and "teach farmers according to their aptitude" for different types of farmers.In view of the elderly and small-scale farmers benefit from the new agricultural technology extension mode more,deal with old age and small-scale farmers to give more publicity,and pay attention to collect the two types of peasant household feedback after using the new agricultural technology,improve service,to further improve the efficiency in the extension of the new agricultural technology extension mode.
