Maps are not simply the presentation of geographical elements.As the image of the map itself,can provide aesthetic function as a work of art,with a unique cultural carrying function and artistic.With the rise of tourism and the development of cultural and creative industries,city maps need more effective information communication and higher quality of viewing,showing the unique cultural charm and personality of the region in a three-dimensional perspective.Nanjing has preserved a large number of ancient maps since the Song Dynasty.It has both historical value and artistic value.It records the growth and changes of Nanjing ancient city,and conveys different cultural and artistic information of each period.It has rich and distinct characteristics.By searching and sorting out the existing old maps of Nanjing in all dynasties,this paper divides them into three stages,namely The Song,Yuan,Ming Dynasty,Qing Dynasty and republic of China,and studies the depiction techniques,forms of expression,symbol application,element selection,orientation and perspective of Nanjing map in these three stages.According to their respective artistic characteristics and changing characteristics,we can further understand the evolution of aesthetic habits and artistic styles in different periods,and analyze the new requirements of contemporary tourism map design and production.It provides reference for the design of modern map of Nanjing.On this basis,Nanjing Tour Map as an example of the design,explore both artistic and scientific modem tourism map design and drawing methods,for the future map design and drawing to provide new ideas.
