With the further deepening of globalization,the scale and scope of corporate transnational operations have further expanded.The obvious differences in the cultures of different countries are having an increasing impact.Some companies may even encounter failure overseas since they cannot acclimatize themselves to this difference,which also highlights the importance of cross-cultural management.As a highly centralized US retail giant,Wal-Mart has a strong American cultural identity.After decades of development in China,Wal-Mart China has accumulated some experience in the process of adapting to Chinese culture,but it also faces some issues.The root cause of many of these problems is still the differences between Chinese and American cultures.To solve these issues,Wal-Mart China needs to pay more attention to cross-cultural management and the characteristics of Chinese society and employees in its daily management,and make adjustments according to these characteristics under the premise of implementing Wal-Mart US's specifications to make Chinese employees and consumers more comfortable with and respect the culture of Wal-Mart,and to make Wal-Mart has a more rapid and better development.Based on the basic scope and theory of cross-cultural management,this paper summarized the current advanced cross-cultural management theories.In the case analysis,Wal-Mart is taken as an example.Firstly,the status of Wal-Mart's cross-cultural management in the Chinese market was analyzed,secondly,the good practices of Wal-Mart's cross-cultural management and the areas that need improvement were summarized,and thirdly,a questionnaire for Wal-Mart employees was prepared to further confirm the characteristics of Chinese employees and consumers through the statistical results of the questionnaire.Lastly,appropriate countermeasures were developed to address these issues.
