Corporate social responsibility(CSR)is a series of responsibilities that the external stakeholders of an enterprise want the company to fulfill in terms of environmental protection,sponsorship,employee rights and interests.At the same time,the enterprise also expects to build further trust and cooperation with the public through the construction of social responsibility,so as to gain competitive advantage and further promote the sustainable development of the enterprise.Since 2006,the state has issued corresponding laws and regulations,and Chinese and foreign academic circles have also strengthened the research in this field,and achieved some results.With the rapid development of economic globalization and the continuous improvement of the level of China's economic development,the proportion of directors with overseas background features in domestic enterprises is increasing,and the role played is becoming more and more important.At present,there have been many studies on the impact of the characteristics of this group on enterprises' overseas financing,transnational merger and acquisition,and enterprise innovation,but the research on corporate social responsibility is still less.Along with building a harmonious society and adhering to the road of sustainable development,it has gradually become the basic line and requirement of China's development.Now one of the most important participants in the social economy,the state-owned enterprises are the first responders and executors of the corresponding government policies because of their nature,scale and quantity.We must take account of the simultaneous development of economic and social performance.This paper makes up for the shortcomings of previous research,and combines the property of property rights to explore the influence of the overseas background of the director on corporate social responsibility,which has certain research value.In this paper,CSR score data of A share listed companies released from 2010 to 2016 were selected as preliminary samples.First of all,we examine the relationship between the overseas background of the director and the corporate social responsibility.Secondly,how does the overseas background of the directors of different property rights affect the corporate social responsibility;Secondly,we examine the impact of directors' overseas backgrounds on corporate social responsibility in different property rights enterprises.Finally,the director's overseas background is further subdivided into two sub samples of overseas learning background and overseas work background,and then the influence of the overseas background of the directors on corporate social responsibility is examined in combination with the property property.The results show that: first,the overseas background of directors has a positive effect on corporate social responsibility.Second,compared with non-state-owned enterprises,the influence of directors' overseas backgrounds on CSR is positively promoted.Third,to further subdivide the overseas background of the director into the overseas work background and the two sub samples of overseas study,it is found that the overseas work background of the directors of the state-owned enterprises has a significant positive effect on the corporate social responsibility.This paper extends the economic consequences of directors' overseas backgrounds to the field of corporate social responsibility,and complements the influencing factors of corporate social responsibility.Based on the special institutional background of our country,the related researches on different property right nature have certain reference significance.Furthermore,we further divide the director's overseas background into overseas learning background and overseas working background,and broaden the research perspective of overseas director's current background.
