The Research About The Reduction Effect Of Urbanization On Rural Poverty

Since the reform and opening up,Our country has helped 250 million rural poverty population lift out of poverty.The rural poverty alleviation work has made great achievements.However,the numerous population of rural poor and the degree of deep poverty is still not changed completely.The pressure of return to poverty is increasing,relative poverty is also becoming more and more serious.Urbanization not only has the huge potential of expanding domestic demand,but also can contribute to promote economic sustainable and healthy development.The essence of urbanization is to realize the historical transformation for the style of the rural population's production and life,so it's the significant way to solve the problem of agriculture,rural areas and farmers.So researching the relationship between the urbanization and rural poverty reduction has important theory value and practical significance.Firstly,on the basis of summarizing the related research about urbanization and poverty reduction in domestic and foreign,the paper introduces the present situation of the urbanization and rural poverty in our country,and analyzes the theory approach that urbanization affects rural poverty.Then we adopt the empirical econometric model to test if urbanization can realize rural poverty reduction.The empirical research uses Chinese provincial panel data form 2001 to 2013 to build FGT poverty index,and adopts GMM to study the influence of urbanization on rural poverty in our country,and the research results is given.Finally,depending on the theoretical and empirical research results,this paper puts forward policy Suggestions about how to promote the urbanization to realize rural poverty reduction in China.In this paper,the research results show that urbanization can dramatically alleviate rural poverty in breadth and depth of poverty,but worsen rural poverty in intensity of poverty.The poverty reduction effect is also different remarkably across regions.That is,Urbanization can reduce rural poverty as a whole,but increase income inequality among the rural poor.Thus,in order to build "two-wheel driven" poverty alleviation and development strategy layout under the background of urbanization,while insist on urbanization in our country,we must accelerate the construction of urbanization in the western region regularly,reform the institutional and policy barriers that are notconducive to the development of urbanization,and continue to implement the strategy of targeting poverty alleviation and poverty alleviation.
