As a long-standing economic organization,family business plays a decisive role in the world economy.In China,family business are an important part of private enterprises and contribute to contribute to the national economy.Along with the development of reform and opening up thirty years,the first generation of family business founder mostly into the old,the two generation to take over the family business has been put on the agenda,the next few years is still a family business succession peak.However,the succession of family business has always faced great challenges,and how to achieve successful succession is essential for the sustained and stable development of family enterprises.To this end,a large number of family business heritage research,trying to pass the process of succession of the effective cultivation of the leadership to achieve a successful handover.So far,the successors training generally refers to the internal and external work experience of the successors,but there is a lack of research on the implementation of mentoring in the family business and the improvement of the successor's competency.The mentoring is mentor guidance the successor for his development in the enterprise.Family business is a combination of family and business,and its special familial nature makes it clear that there is a distinct difference between the family's internal and external successors.Therefore,it is of great significance to introduce the perspective of the succession mentor in the succession of family business.The above theory and practice based on the background,this study from the perspective of successor's mentor,summarizing and describing family business mentor,and carry out theoretical and empirical analysis on the relationship between successor's mentor and succession performance by studying 184 family firms that have completed or are able to complete succession so that compensate for the lack of existing research.The successor's mentor is the resource of family business,and can be divided into family mentor and non-family mentor.Based on the theory of knowledge transformation,the effect of mentoring will be influenced by the education level of successors,thus affecting the efficiency of succession.This study is based on the source based theory and knowledge transfer theory,combined with the family business mentor and discussion the importance of successor education,to compare the difference effect of different origin of mentor on the succession performance and the adjustment effect of successor education.In the empirical part,this study uses the methods of reliability analysis,validity analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis to get the main conclusion of this paper.The empirical results show that,the successor mentor from the family has a more significant positive impact on succession performance.That is,the family mentor have a supervisor positive effect on enterprise performance than non-family mentor;the family mentor have a supervisor positive effect on family performance than non-family mentor.The successor education regulates the relationship between the origin of mentor and the succession performance.The higher the education level,the stronger the non-family mentor has to the enterprise performance.The higher the education level,the weaken the family mentor's influence on family performance.This study provides a degree of guidance for the succession of family business succession,such as the importance of arranging mentors for the successor in family business,and the differences between different origin of mentors.At the end of this study,the author provides relevant suggestions for the succession practice of family firm.
